Jessica & Brandon / Go Do

Where to begin on this one…wow. Jessica & Brandon are photographers from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. They’re already married. They contacted us to make a promotional video in our Engagement Film style that they could use to promote their photo business. We dig that ’cause there are no rules when it comes to making cool stuff and having fun with cool people!

So they flew in from Canada and met us at a remote location in the Sierra Mountains of California at June Lake. Talk about a rad spot! We had such an amazing time. Mountains, lakes, bonfires, canoes, torches, cliff dives…and the list goes on.

All three guys on our IRIS AND LIGHT crew made this one happen…lots of logistics and crazy shots to set up. We wanted to blow this one out of the water and we think we made a pretty solid film.

Music: “Go Do” by Jonsi. Please support him by buying his music on iTunes.

We made a behind-the-scenes video, too, that shows how we made this film and how much fun we had. To check it out, please go LIKE our IRIS AND LIGHT Facebook page and watch it here: facebook.com/irisandlight

5 Years Time

Think back a bit and tell me you haven’t sat through dozens of wedding videos that fell under the category of either “mushy” or “ultra-cinematic drama.” That may be the reason why hiring a videographer for a wedding typically comes well after the photographer, dj, florist, catering… it’s one of those jobs that got a bad rap no thanks to the 80s and 90s.

But things are different now. We at Iris and Light strive to find some level of originality, find a story to tell, and find a way to take it to a different level each time. When we were still a bit new a ways back with the films “Amy and Dan” or the now Utah phenom “Jana and Billy”, those mini films I’d say would fall under “stylish” or “deep love”. The Tennessee film unraveled a “dreamy” tale with a great ending. The music has all been great and the people were phenomenal. But not everyone fits the same mold. That’s why we try to tailor to your personalities, and if you are quirky and fun, then that’s exactly what we need to do!

A little while ago we put the word out to entice some fun young couples to do a shoot with us. Lauren and Ben showed up with the bells and whistles…and bikes, and twister, and a bag of good times. It’s always fun to go out on the edge and try something new…or to climb a higher tree (as in this video). Really, who wants to see people kissing and making out the whole time? I say be fun, quirky, and romantic all at the same time. Check these guys out. Oh ya, I think they’ve been married for 7 years. Something about married couples is just a lot of fun. This is titled after the song name, but I could use a little more cowbell at the end.

lauren & ben: our spring contest winners!

Lauren and Ben were our spring contest winners….and we absolutely LOVED spending the day with them! When we got their entry, we just knew they were the ones. They have been married for 7 years (two kids!), and wedding styles have changed SO much since they were married–their wedding film was in need of an update…..and we were so happy to be a part of it! Here are their photos from the day, and stay tuned for their Iris and Light film coming soon!!!

Starlight – Denise & Johnny

Ok, so we’d be lying if we told you these two weren’t already married. But how cute are they! And think about it…do you really have to be getting engaged or married to make a rad film/music video that celebrates your love? At Iris and Light…we think not.

Our stars of this film are Denise & Johnny Bovee. Denise is hugely talented in her own right…we’ve been fans of hers forever. Please check out her incredible photography at www.denisebovee.net.

We wanted something fresh and unique for this film so we decided to shoot it 100% in the dark. This all dark approach gave us the moodiness we were looking for…a bit more edgy and adventurous. The story of a boy and girl escaping out into the night together. Full production from shoot to delivery: 36 hours. Song: Muse “Starlight”
